Carol Greene's Trick-or-Treat Sing-Along, The 13 Days Of Halloween, is a terrific takeoff from The Twelve Days of Christmas, spookily illustrated by Tim Raglin.

It begins, 'On the first day of Halloween, / my good friend gave to me: / a vulture in a dead tree.' These gruesome gifts continue with hissing (black) cats, smug looking fat toads, giggling ghosts, cooked worms (yecch!), screeching owls, creeping spiders, flying brooms, whizzing wizards, gobbling goblins, swooping bats, and bubbling cauldrons.

The picture book follows the courtship tradition of The Twelve Days of Christmas up to the thirteenth day, when the lady reciprocates with her own gift for the green-skinned ghoul who courts her - what can it be and will he dare to open it?
