The cover of this large and charming board book features a drooling, wide-eyed infant with a fascinated expression. Inside are many more babies from all over the world, letting readers know all the amazing things they can do.

It begins, 'I am a baby. / I am strong. / I can hold my head up. / I am a clever baby.' This text is accompanied by a picture of a naked baby, annotated with labels from head to toes. Readers continue to learn what a curious baby does with her senses, how a busy baby spends his day, the faces an expressive baby makes, what flexible and splashy babies can do; and finally what a sleepy baby needs ('Good-night kisses!')

I like the emphasis throughout that this is a clever baby, along with the final thought that 'It's very hard being a clever baby.' Indeed it is, for infant and caregiver alike!
