Mary Anna Evans knows the world of archeology and history as well as architecture and she shares her knowledge with her readers and fans in Findings, the fourth in a series.

Faye Longchamp uncovers a large emerald while excavating a site in Florida. When her dear friend and mentor is murdered in his home and only her digging notes are stolen (the emerald remains safe!), she resolves to find his murderer or murderers. Helped by her friend and housemate Joe Wolf Mantooth, she begins investigating, only to find their lives in danger also.

The plot in this good read is twisting and somewhat convoluted, adding to the enjoyment of the book. Faye is relying on ancient letters written during the Civil War to direct her digging into the past. The history of the area around Tallahassee proves fascinating as does the method of exploring trash heaps of years ago to discover how people lived long ago – what they ate, drank, and used in their daily existence.

Mary Anna Evans only gets better as she progresses in her writing. She held my attention throughout – especially at the ending. She even found time for a bit of romance. The author's books have been used in classrooms as teaching tools for young adults. I can see why. Tight writing and good research. Write on, Mary Anna.
