H
arriet, Duchess of Berrow, is tired of the way her life is progressing. She is tired of being the pitied widow and she is tired of all the responsibilities that come with her title. She wants to attend Lord Justinian Strange's wild party, which is anticipated to be a scandalous event.
H
arriet and her friend Jemma talk the rakish Villiers into taking Harriet with him disguised as his nephew. Harriet is overjoyed with the prospect and loves the idea of going as a man. Lord Strange at first can't understand the odd attraction he feels towards Villier's nephew. After he figures out that Harriet is a woman, they embark on an affair. The only problem is that Harriet is a Duchess and Lord Strange despises Dukes and Duchesses. Harriet is starting to fall in love with Justinian. She knows she will have to reveal her rank at some point, but will she lose him?
E
loisa James has a flair for creating wonderfully personable characters with whom readers fall in love. Villiers and Jemma have made appearances in other books and fans will welcome their return.
