espected horse breeder by day and masked thief intent on reclaiming his inheritance by night, Sullivan Warring enjoys leading a double life. Sure, it's dangerous, but invading the homes of the wealthiest ton members to make off with their paintings has its own brand of appeal. Things couldn't be going better until the night he's caught in the act by a beautiful woman who, instead of being terrified by his appearance, seems as intrigued by him as he is by her.
L
ady Isabel Chalsey craves a little adventure. When the notorious
Mayfair Marauder
makes an appearance in her home, she's outraged ... and truth be told, more than a little enticed by the handsome rake. As if breaking into her house and catching her clad in nothing but a revealing shift isn't bad enough, he also dares to steal a kiss. But that one little kiss has consequences. In the heat of the moment, Lady Isabel manages to tear off Sullivan Warring's mask, and when they meet again the next day, she recognizes him for who he is. Will she spill his secret to the ton, or will she invite herself along on his adventure?

After the Kiss
offers the kind of story Suzanne Enoch is best known for: light, entertaining Regency-set romance. The developing relationship between Isabel and Sullivan parallels Isabel's progress in overcoming her fear of horses with Sullivan's help. Just as he trains her to trust the animal, she must also learn to trust him. But can he trust her with his secrets?

espite the fact that the heroine is, at times, rather whiny and exhibits spoiled-brat behavior, the feelings between the main characters appear genuine. It's easy to root for these two and follow the story to its satisfying conclusion. Readers will be clamoring to get their hands on the upcoming books, each dealing with a different Peninsula War hero.
