Greenwood also pens the Phryne Fisher series, about the sophisticated young woman who solves mysteries and gobbles up men in 1920s Melbourne. Corinna is the exact opposite of Phryne. She is not interested in the latest fashions. She gave up the corporate world to open her own bakery shop. She is surrounded by a coterie of unusual characters – including David, a native Israeli, who loves her for who she is. Her ample curves don't detract from his seeing her as the woman of his dreams. Which suits Corinna just fine. The young women who own and run a chocolate shop next to Corinna's bakery in Melbourne have run into a hitch. Someone is injecting their lovely chocolates with chili sauce. And someone else seems to be out to get the new tenant in Corinna's building. Heavenly Pleasures is a delight with an array of cats slinking through the story, as well as characters who have a different outlook on life than most of us do. I like Kerry Greenwood's books. Always look forward to reviewing them. But I had a bit of trouble with this one. The story moved slowly and the action somehow seemed isolated from the players.
