aniel Sutton, Lord Surbrooke, has always been taken by Carolyn's beauty, but she was married to his best friend Edward. Daniel believes that getting Carolyn into his bed will get her out of his system and allow him to move on. He assumes he will tire of her as he has with all previous women in his life. Carolyn and Daniel embark on an affair to satisfy themselves, thinking that they will soon be able to move on with their lives - but instead they fall head over heels for each other. When bodies - of women that Daniel has dated in the past - begin to appear, he's a prime suspect, but Carolyn can't believe he's a murderer. When it seems that someone is also after Carolyn, Daniel is determined to protect the woman he wants for his wife.

Sleepless at Midnight
. Carolyn and Daniel have feelings for each other, constrained by the past. Carolyn's regard for her first husband is refreshing, in the sense that he was a loving man and she learns that she can find love again. On the surface, Daniel seems to care only for himself and to take what he can get from women. But as Carolyn gets to know him better, a caring, giving side shines through. Jacquie D'Alessandro has created a keeper in a story whose characters will not be soon forgotten.
