n the first Grace Stanley novel,
Saving Grace
, Grace Stanley had to learn to cope with losing her brother. In this second novel, Philomena helps Grace land a job at Alternate Realities, a new department store. When Grace finds out that Jackson Turner works there too, she couldn't be happier.
J
ackson was her first crush when he hung around with her older brother Matt, and she still likes him. He and Matt started a band called the
Daily Dose
which continues to play together. Just after her brother's death in a car accident, Grace and Jackson were uneasy around each other. Both felt guilt about her brother's accident, but with the help of Philomena, Grace is coming to terms with her loss and her guilt.

race and Jackson quickly fall into the boyfriend/girlfriend relationship she has long hoped for. He wants to use Grace's art for a demo cover on the band's new CD to be sold during the upcoming battle of the bands. They've recorded some of Matt's songs for the CD.

race is surprised, now that her life is so on track, that Philomena expresses doubts about her relationship with Jackson. She thinks of Philomena as her guardian angel, who always shows up to rein Grace in when her grief pushes her into doing extreme and dangerous things.
