I
wish I had had the guide to the Sistine Chapel when I visited there. I drank in the beauty and marveled at Michelangelo's extraordinary talent. But I would have liked to have had a better understanding of what I felt privileged to see. Great works of art, such as the Trevi fountain, are represented in the guide with not only a photograph but also an explanation of how they came to be named and what they symbolize. Sites are mapped out and buildings containing art, that you've probably heard of all your life, are yours to view. The floor plan for the Vatican Museum allows one to drool in front of some of the most glorious paintings and statues in the world.

aravaggio's Calling of Saint Matthew glows on a wall in the Contarelli chapel. Don't miss the Piazza Navona, one of the most beautiful Piazzas in all of Italy. Possibly you will want to enjoy a gelato and a bella passegiatta there. We've all heard of the Spanish Steps and the Fontana della Baraccia. Another

Unabellavista Rome
is a marvelous guide, a necessity for a Roman holiday. It brought back many memories of my all-too-short time in that great city and increased my desire to return.
