tlanta paramedic Kirke Palmer has already had one heck of a crazy day. Things turn even more alarming when she and her partner are called to a disturbing hit-and-run outside a downtown bar. Knowing he has limited time, the victim passes Kirke a letter and exacts a promise that she deliver his message. As he fades he warns her to avoid contacting the police. It's not until later, when various attempts have been made on her life, that Kirke realizes that her innocent promise might have been a deadly mistake. Yet she remains true to her pledge and avoids the police.

The fact that Potter also builds a compelling romance into this already complicated and fast-paced storyline is a bonus.
