Atlanta paramedic Kirke Palmer has already had one heck of a crazy day. Things turn even more alarming when she and her partner are called to a disturbing hit-and-run outside a downtown bar. Knowing he has limited time, the victim passes Kirke a letter and exacts a promise that she deliver his message. As he fades he warns her to avoid contacting the police. It's not until later, when various attempts have been made on her life, that Kirke realizes that her innocent promise might have been a deadly mistake. Yet she remains true to her pledge and avoids the police.

Former special forces operative Jake Kelly has spent the last seven years in prison for a crime he didn't commit. Determined to clear his name, he violates his parole and travels to Atlanta to confront a man from his past. Jake is certain that his contact was a member of the botched CIA operation in which he and his men participated - and that totally went to hell once a traitor amongst them showed his true colours. Jake witnesses the hit-and-run and immediately determines that Kirke Palmer is now his only hope. Convincing her to trust him is yet another dark twist in his search for the truth. But time is not on their side: the shadowy mastermind behind the conspiracy is onto them and will not rest until both Jake and Kirke are silenced.

Patricia Potter offers up another complex, edge-of-your-seat thriller in Catch A Shadow. She creates a believable scenario that forces leads Kirke and Jake to trust their instincts and then each other as both use their individual skills to untangle an increasingly intricate and dangerous conspiracy. The fact that Potter also builds a compelling romance into this already complicated and fast-paced storyline is a bonus. Catch a Shadow is a gripping and addictive romantic suspense that's guaranteed to keep you eagerly turning pages well into the wee hours.
