Michael is a grown man, but he goes everywhere with Jane. Of course, no one can see him but Jane. Jane's mother Vivienne is a successful Broadway producer with no time for her daughter. Once a week, on Sundays, they go to Tiffany's to look at the jewelry. On occasion they go to the St. Regis Hotel, where Jane always orders an ice cream sundae to eat with Michael. Michael is perfect for Jane. Funny, loving, and kind, he is always happy to spend time with her. But Michael explains to Jane that he cannot stay with her forever. There are other lonely children who need his companionship. When Jane turns nine, Michael will leave her and her memory of him will be erased. Years later, Jane is in her thirties. She has a successful career, but she is just as lonely as she was as a child. Her mother is still trying to control her life, and the man she wants Jane to marry is totally wrong for her. One day, while walking along the busy sidewalk, Jane sees a man she is certain she knows. She approaches him to talk and finds to her delight he is Michael, her imaginary friend from childhood. The only thing is, he is no longer imaginary and he has not aged at all. He explains to Jane that he is still spending time with lonely children and helping them adjust to life. Jane feels sure that Michael is an angel. Jane and Michael begin to spend time together. They take long walks and talk of Jane's childhood. She asks questions about Michael's life but he is unable to answer so many things. He tells Jane that when he needs money he snaps his fingers and the cash appears. He raises his arm on the street and a cab is there instantly. After spending a few days together on Nantucket Island, Jane feels sure that Michael is the one for her. She wants to spend the rest of her life with him. Michael feels the same, but knows there is a special reason they have been brought together again. Michael has a premonition of death and is afraid for Jane. He feels that if he leaves her she will be kept safe from harm. Devastated, Jane once again tries to move forward with her life, until suddenly a death brings them back together again. Sundays At Tiffany's is a lighthearted, whimsical love story that shows us the power of destiny.
