Fourteen-year-old Bernadette Romano (stage name Hope Shay) is accepted at Starwood Academy for Performing Arts, a prestigious prep boarding school that specializes in theater. The talented and ambitious young actor is the product of a backstage mother and an inattentive lawyer dad. Things happen at Starwood that she is still trying to sort out when the book begins.

As the result of a faked kidnapping, Hope is transferred to Taylor Hill. She thinks this is a boarding school without the acting component. Hope is devastated that her career is over before it even begins. She blames everyone, including Logan, her true love, who also attended Starwood.

At Taylor Hill, Hope feels as if she is vanishing as she tries to deal with her past. She explains what happened at Starwood in a journal. Who was at fault? Logan, the school, her mother, her dad or Hope Shay? This suspenseful melodrama will keep you guessing until the end.
