At sixteen years of age, Anna would rather be anywhere but camp. Medical student Walter Dotson is volunteering his time as a camp counselor. When Anna and Walter meet they are instantly attracted to one another. Walter not only sees Anna's beauty, but he is drawn to her outgoing personality and zest for life. They have a lot in common as they have both been raised with strong religious faith and respect for family values. When summer comes to an end they are deeply in love but Walter must finish his doctorate and Anna returns home to further her education. By winter Walter is interning at the local hospital in Anna's hometown. To be near him Anna volunteers at the hospital, working tirelessly as an epidemic shuts the hospital down. Soon Walter is asking for Anna's hand in marriage and their life together begins. In 1908 they settle in Gallatin, Tennessee with their two children. At this time, Anna is becoming bored with her life. She feels smothered by the rules of society. She joins the suffrage movement, for women's right to vote. Walter is a well respected doctor and citizen of their community and is busy attending council meetings and honoring his club memberships. His time with Anna and the children is limited. Charlie Cobb, a handsome newcomer to town, works at the local barber shop. He has seen Anna around town and begins to make inquiries about her. Married himself with a young daughter, Charlie still appreciates the beauty and companionship of other women. He befriends the Dotson family and earns their trust, but his interest in Anna will destroy all of their lives. Miscarriage of Justice is based on actual facts from a 1913 newspaper in Nashville, Tennessee. It is a story of love, betrayal, and a shocking murder that will leave you surprised at the verdict.
