. Actually, it seems the teacher might have been playing matchmaker - the two pugnacious high schoolers learn that there is a lot more to each other as they fall in love. Their relationship is anything but smooth as they go through a very awkward first date. Then it is put to the test when Chiemi's ultra-clingy male cousin transfers to their school. Of course, though, neither Chiemi nor Hirata is going down without a fight.

eino has written a cute romance with a tough heroine who will keep readers on their toes. Just like her main characters, the author is not afraid to pull a few punches to keep her teen audience interested. The story is easy to relate to, as Chiemi goes through all of the feelings that teenage girls in love will recognize. Also, the artwork stays consistent throughout, with a lot of close-ups that show the characters' emotions - which also helps readers feel for Chiemi and Hirata.

he first volume of
Love Attack
is nothing earth-shattering, but it is a fun read. Shizuru Seino really knows how to create strong (mentally and physically) heroines, and it shows in her latest manga to hit the US.
