is no exception. This time, Truman zeros in on the world of lobbying. If even only half of what she writes is true, lobbyists are running the United States on behalf of companies looking to make more money than they already have - mo matter who is hurt in the process.

'. Senior Illinois senator Lyle Simmons arrives home to find his wife dead of a cruel blow to the head. Having presidential aspirations, he does his best to soften the appearance of being a wife killer to his constituents. While sure he is not guilty, the reader would like him to be. He is not the sterling character he would have everyone believe.

he plot roils around other characters who all have stories of their own. The media, as always, is ready to convict. After two more people die, secrets are revealed as well as guilty consciences striving to live with themselves. Truman takes the reader on a roller coaster ride around the city of Washington, one thrill following another. She has certainly kept her finger on the pulse of U.S. politics - and shares her findings with devoted readers.
