he Christmas angels are back. Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy have all been given their assignments on Earth by their boss, Archangel Gabriel. They love helping people who have sent prayer requests to heaven. They are mischievous, love to play games, and are often warned by Gabriel to follow the rules.
M
ercy's assignment is to help bring peace of mind to elderly Harry. He and his wife Rosalie have been married for sixty-five years. They have two daughters and four grandchildren. Now at age eighty-six, Harry is suffering from a failing heart. He has noticed lately that Rosalie has been having bouts of forgetfulness. Harry knows his days on earth are few and he wants to leave knowing Rosalie will be well cared for. He wants to see her settled in an assisted living complex, where some of their friends have taken up residence. Rosalie loves her home and all the memories they have made there. She is fearful of the move and won't discuss it until after Christmas, but that may be too late for Harry. Every night, Harry sends out his prayer for help and guidance in his situation.

oodness has an assignment to help a young woman get back into the dating world. Beth enjoys her single life. She has a good job, a nice apartment, and enjoys playing Internet games in the evening. Her mother is always pressuring her to find a young man, settle down, and have children. Beth was married once and is now divorced. Both she and her husband John were young and immature, and the marriage was over before the first year had passed. She loved him very much and still thinks about him, hoping he has found some happiness. Beth's mother has lit a candle in church in the hopes Beth will find someone before Christmas. Now it is up to Goodness to help maneuver Beth in the right direction.

hirley's assignment is to help young Carter have his prayers answered for Christmas. All Carter wants is a dog. His parents have explained to him that they are not in a financial position right now to afford a dog and all the extras it would need. One day at school, Carter finds a stray in the playground. The dog is dirty and very thin from lack of food. He immediately starts to feed the mutt, which soon follows Carter around. After the dog follows the school bus home, Carter sneaks him into the house to clean him up. His parents explain that the dog must go to the Humane Society, where someone will adopt him and give him a good home. Carter is devastated, because he has already formed a bond with the loving dog.

hrough some heavenly intervention, we see how this dog was meant to be with Carter and his family. Beth has the shock of her life when she meets her online friend from
World of Warcraft
. Harry has his prayers answered, and Shirley, Goodness and Mercy have some fun along the way.
