After moving from New York she has settled into a upscale Seattle community. Her ten-year old daughter Eva wants to make new friends, and also have her mother fit in. But Marta does not conform to the other mothers. She rides a motorcycle, wears combat boots, and works full time. The normal moms are perfectly coiffed, dress in the latest trends, and volunteer their time at the local school. Raised in Seattle, Marta returns to be close to her parents. Her mother is suffering from Alzheimer's, and she wants to support her at this time in her life. She also feels Eva should have a chance to have a relationship with her grandparents. Both Marta and Eva struggle to survive in their new surroundings. Eva is caught up in a world of well to do kids who have it all and close her out of their groups. Marta juggles her demanding design business with volunteer work at the school. She feels she does not measure up to the other mothers. For years Marta has claimed that she can work and raise her daughter on her own without the help of a man. After all she chose to be a single parent. Now her day to day existence is becoming more complicated and she wonders how it would be to trust and share all she has with a partner. Enter Luke Flynn. Tall, handsome, and mysterious. Marta sees him everywhere. Jogging in the morning, at the grocery store, and even at the school. She is drawn to him but tries to walk away from his advances. Soon they are dating and Eva is enamored of him, but Marta is frightened to take a chance on love again. Problems arise when Marta discovers Luke is not the person she thought him to be. He is involved with business dealings with Z Design and their relationship is threatened. Has she just made the biggest mistake of her life? Odd Mom Out is a story of a mother and daughter trying to find their way in life by staying true to themselves - a delightful read.
