M
addie Chase is full of wanderlust, and when her Aunt Sid invites her along for a post-Christmas vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Maddie couldn't be happier to tag along. Unfortunately, before they even get there, the trip is full of a little too much excitement: crazy flights with misplaced luggage, bad back roads, and a resort that has seen better days and lost half their reservation. The trip starts to look up, however, when Sid's boyfriend Ian decides to join them, along with Maddie's good friend Ryan.
M
addie hopes to explore her romantic feelings for Ryan, but that's quickly turned around when Ryan runs into an ex-girlfriend from high school named Shelby. Throughout the novel, Maddie struggles with how to treat Shelby kindly and put her own feelings on the back burner. Maddie is a very likeable main character, who seems truly devout in her relationship with God and struggles with normal college-girl decisions. This novel is the third in the
Notes from a Spinning Planet
series, and while some of the back story of the relationships between Sid and Ian, Maddie and Ryan, is lost without reading the other books, this one can still stand alone.
M
elody Carlson is a prolific author and she is clearly not slowing down as she creates great stories for children, teens, and adults. Maddie Chase is a charming main character and this series offers great entertainment imbued with Christian values.
