Based on Frank Herbert's extensive notes and an outline, and written by his son Brian and by Kevin J. Anderson, Sandworms of Dune is a fitting conclusion to the epic series of galactic civilizations, The Dune Chronicles, and true to Frank Herbert's spirit.

Thousands of years after the time of the original storyline, we are reunited with many of the original characters. Thanks to the axlotl tank technology, Paul and Jessica, along with Duncan Idaho and many others of the original cast, are back as gholas (reincarnations). They are now fleeing the onslaught of the intelligent machines, led by Omnius and Erasmus. The advance of the machines is devastating to the human race, which is being systematically eradicated. But there is one the machines are seeking above all else, the ultimate Kwisatz Haderach, who can see the future and be in many places at once.

The human race, segmented into castes, is witnessing its own elimination. That still does not stop the infighting and politicking between the Bene Gesserit, the Navigators, the Guild, and the many other factions. Early attempts to unite have failed to overcome these groups' self interest. Will humanity be able to rise above its internecine division and overcome this overwhelming threat?

In Sandworms of Dune, you will discover strength amongst human frailties, leading to Kralizec (Armageddon), the end of many things. In a short chapter format that is particularly readable, this is one book not to be missed by any SF fan.
