arah Dearly just can't seem to catch a break - after politely suffering through the world's worst blind date, the guy has the nerve to turn her into a vampire. She manages to survive the
change
, only to find herself head-over-heels in love with an ancient vampire named Thierry who could give Mr. Spock lessons on keeping his emotions in check. Add to that the fact that former vampire slayer Quinn (also recently turned vamp) is equally smitten with her, and Sarah's having a hard time keeping her mind focused on an even bigger problem - living up to her recently acquired (and totally bogus) reputation as
Slayer of Slayers

snowball and overnight she becomes an undead celebrity. Soon, other old vampires are converging on Toronto with invitations to join an ancient cadre called
The Ring
. She also attracts the interest of a growing list of
Hunters
, any one of whom would like nothing more than to claim her head. But how's a girl supposed to concentrate on these major issues (not to mention Quinn's self-defense lessons) when all Sarah really wants is to live happily ever after with her reluctant lover, Thierry?
W
hile most of this book's humor hits the mark, Sarah's penchant for nonstop sarcasm eventually wears thin. The chemistry between Sarah and Thierry is also lacking - she has steamier interactions with Quinn. He's a real charmer who shamelessly pursues Sarah, though she repeatedly rebuffs him in favor of her reluctant boyfriend Thierry. He unfortunately, spends more time offstage pouting or keeping secrets than trying to sort things out with Sarah. Two thirds of the way through the story I found myself wondering why she didn't just dump the guy.
R
eaders who like paranormal silliness with lightweight plotting and a distinctly
chick lit
flavor should enjoy this increasingly popular author's latest - paranormal romance fans who prefer grittier vampire stories might want to give
Fanged & Fabulous
a pass.
