oldsmith organizes her chapters simply and effectively. In her first, she offers tips on how to shop ethically, travel wisely, choose natural products, and more, including the mantra
reduce, reuse, and recycle
. Goldsmith's second chapter covers growing fruits, herbs, and vegetables organically in small spaces, such as roof terraces, patios, and small yards. She points out that in order to live organically one need not have a garden the size of a football field. Goldsmith's third chapter offers advice for those who have space, much more space. Along with simple tips, such as about making fresh juices and using renewable energy, she ventures further out into raising pigs, keeping a flock of ducks, and making goat cheese from one's own goats.

is beautifully illustrated. A fun and interesting book to read, it offers some fresh and innovative ideas. While most of Goldsmith's tips are simple and easily achievable, one wonders just how many people will be able to keep a milk cow, a hive of bees, or a flock of geese. Primarily the book will serve well someone who is a novice to living with an eye towards the environment. The book's colorful photographs of nature remind us all just why Goldsmith's advice is so important.
