O
n a cold Pennsylvania morning while out jogging along the river, Laurie Hale finds the body of a fourteen-year old girl. Laurie has a daughter of her own and at first all she can think about is the girl's family when they are told of her death. Sadly, the child belongs to one of the women in her prayer group.
L
aurie is as appalled as the rest of the small town of Glendale when the police rule the cause of the girl's death as homicide. More shocking, Laura's own fourteen-year-old daughter becomes a prime suspect in the case. And she's not the only one implicated - a number of teenagers appear to be involved and none of them are talking.
L
aurie's support system is yanked away from her when she is asked to leave her prayer group. Her faith in her church and her daughter are both tested.
