Fern Holm has been increasingly concerned that something is missing in the teachings in Christian circles. There is an imbalance in theology that is taking everything out except for salvation through Christ. In Pivot Point, she offers a complement to this message in order to show more clearly what the Bible is talking about concerning teaching.

The author begins by challenging the reader to access, read, and interpret the Bible for themselves, without having to filter it through someone else's knowledge. This is one of the reasons we have the Holy Spirit, so that we can be taught on our own. The second challenge she gives is for us to question and check up on all of the basic teaching we have received. Does it truly line up with Scripture? There may be long held beliefs that do not line up with the Bible.

The next few chapters delve into her key point - is Jesus your God, or the SON of your God? Different denominations and their views on the subject are explored. Ultimately, the key issue of Christianity is brought to the surface. Jesus is supposed to be the WAY for us to God ... not the destination.

The remainder of the book focuses on this key pivot point, offering Scriptural evidence to support it. This is a book for established Christians who will understand what the author is trying to say. It is quite deep and not meant to be read in a quick gulp. But those who take the time to read, pray, and see what the Bible has to say about Holm's words will come away with a fresh and uplifting understanding of God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and what each one means to the Christian believer.
