Four sorority sisters witness a shocking incident and rather than report it to the authorities they make a pact never to reveal what they know about Rachel Lorant's death. Ten years later, Brynn Saddler is happily married and the mother of two rambunctious boys who keep her on her toes. Fiona Fitzgerald is a harried but successful businesswoman and single mom who hasn't taken a real break in years. Cassandra Ashford is looking forward to finishing her medical residency in pediatrics but isn't as confident about her impending marriage. And wealthy socialite Tildy Harrington keeps herself busy with various charities and an assortment of men, neither of which she finds fulfilling.

Each woman has gone on with her life since that fateful day when they discovered Rachel's body - and swore never to tell a soul. But on a bright September day that marks the tenth anniversary of Rachel's death, each of them receives a card that reads ... 'Happy Birthday to Me - XOXOXO. Rachel'. Within hours, they're in contact and speculating whether the simultaneous mailing is some sort of sick joke. Is Rachel communicating from beyond the grave? Or had she somehow survived the terrible fall (her body was never recovered)? Brynn, Fiona, Cassie and Tildy are determined to go on as if nothing has happened, but when one of the four is brutally murdered on her 30th birthday, the three survivors realize that they, as well as their loved ones, are in serious danger. As the survivors' birthdays approach, fear overshadows every aspect of their lives as they force themselves to relive that awful night and try to identify a soulless killer who's determined to destroy them all.

Wendy Corsi Staub has a long list of successful thrillers to her credit. Don't Scream is another convincing and chilling suspense story where the author nimbly juggles various interconnecting plotlines and showcases four very different and believable protagonists. She also peppers the plot with plenty of red herrings by shifting viewpoints often as Brynn, Fiona, Cassie and Tildy take turns showing readers what's going on in their lives and how they remember the night of Rachel's death. Plenty of secrets still abound and as they're brought to light the tension increases and the action escalates to an exciting and surprising conclusion, making Don't Scream an effective and page-turning thriller.
