fter a night out with an old college friend, Katharine Lawrence wakes up bound and gagged on her kitchen floor. She has no idea what happened but the attack came out of nowhere. Her friend Lisa is beside her with questioning eyes. Two masked gunman are searching the house for something, but she doesn't know what. The men don't believe her protests and are threatening her with torture and eventually death if she doesn't comply with their demands. Her last conscious thought is that she will die all alone.

hen Katharine awakens in the hospital, she has a battered body and a feeling that everything is not right. When she sees herself in the mirror she wonders who is looking back at her. Her hairstyle and colour are different and she has a slimmer body. She is wearing jewelry that cannot belong to her. It is not to her style or taste. Something about Dr. Dan Howard is familiar but her brain is fuzzy. Does she know him? She remembers she is a special assistant to the head of the CIA, but now nothing is as it seems and she is afraid to trust anyone.

atharine relies on her gut instinct and decides to flee from the hospital. Her boyfriend is demanding to know all the details of the attack but she fears him. How could she be involved with a man who has such anger and hostility towards her? She soon has two men following her flight from the hospital, but Dr. Howard is there to help her escape.

fter fleeing to a secluded fishing cabin, Katharine is having nightmares of the attack and painful flashbacks of a former life. Why is she so attracted to Dr. Howard? He seems familiar but nothing is clear to her. Soon they are on the run again as they start to untangle a government conspiracy, which turns into a game of cat and mouse.
Obsession
is a real page turner. Robards delivers romance and mystery in a unique story of memory and identity.
