The time has come to tie the knot. Not just once – but twice! Jane decides she would like two weddings; one a quiet family gathering at the courthouse and the other the big splash that she knows her soon-to-be mother-in-law will try to orchestrate - and her ex-mother-in-law will try to ruin. Jane determines to stay one step ahead of them both. While all of this is happening, Jane and her best friend Shelley Nowack take a self-defense course. Their instructor is murdered and, of course, Jane and Shelley become involved, investigating who could have committed the crime. Jane always seems to get caught up in affairs beyond her control. Watching her trying to tie everything together – her wedding plans, thwarting Mel's mother, keeping her kids' lives on an even keel – is the delight this series always produces. Jane is an everyday single mom who lives with lists always in hand. And, before her death, the self-defense instructor gives many good tips about safety and travel that it would behoove every woman to read and heed. Jane has a good slant on life and instead of crying in her beer when things go wrong she plans how to correct them. She's witty as well as forgiving and very forbearing where her ex-mother-in-law and future mother-in-law are concerned. The Accidental Florist is a fun read, but mystery is not the driving force in this one.
