Need I say more than to inform you that this intriguing, masterfully plotted thriller is another winner for this prolific writer? A psychologist himself, Kellerman brings his area of expertise to his writing as Delaware delves into the utterances of a dying woman - a woman who raised her niece and now must leave her to face the world alone. Something in the older woman's past brings her to warn her niece that she must watch her back for fear of retribution. Alex and Milo, good friends, work together to trace the woman's past and find out what she might have done to elicit payback. This reveals the so-called underworld as well as sociopaths who will stop at nothing to obtain what they feel is rightfully theirs. As well, the reader is treated to psychological insights that could apply to their own lives or to those around them. Having a granddaughter who is studying to obtain her Ph.D. in psychology, I now have a much greater respect for her life choice. Kellerman, through the years, has perfected his writing with tight plotting, some wonderfully obsessive players, descriptions (right down to the color of their socks) that bring his characters to life in a way that is so revealing. A person's attire gives some indication as to their personality, and Kellerman as much as strips them to bring said personalities to light. His similes are brilliant - it's worth slowing down one's assault on his books to relish them. Though it's hard to slow down because the pace keeps one turning pages quickly. Obsession is another brilliant thriller that will bring hours of reading pleasure.
