A good short story can be like a miniature candy bar. Just enough to give the taste, but sometimes not enough to completely satisfy a craving. Such is the case with Kellerman's The Garden of Eden and Other Criminal Delights, which is so good it leaves you wanting more.

The seventeen stories include something for just about everyone. There is a pair of never before published stories featuring her very popular protagonists, husband-and-wife team, Peter Decker and Rina Lazarus, as well as collaborations with both her daughters and her playwright son. One standout is the story Bonding which features a teen prostitute who has more than one reason to want to be rid of her mother. The story is a bit darker than what one would expect of Kellerman, but well written and slightly haunting. Seemingly out of place are two personal essays, Small Miracles and Summer of My Womanhood, which round out the anthology - yet hardcore fans will love the glimpses into Kellerman's past and private thoughts.

This collection is a good mix of crime fiction, which will thrill longtime fans of Kellerman as well as provide a great introduction to one of the most respected authors in the genre.
