Gracie Doe writes an anonymous blog about her high school. It's very popular and she gets lots of feedback about her insightful, yet sometimes biting comments. But Gracie doesn't worry too much, since she doesn't use real names and no one really notices her anyway. She's quiet and doesn't want to be the center of attention, all the better to take notes about those around her. But Gracie receives a message saying that someone is onto her and is trying to figure out her real identity.

Who might have figured it out? Is it popular Annie, who knows everyone? Artistic Jasmine? Or Storm, the feisty new girl who seems to be hiding something? Gracie needs to find out fast, before things spiral out of control.

Grace Notes is the first book in a new series. The issue surrounding blogs and their impact on teens is very timely and readers will be able to relate to the situations portrayed in the story. The characters are well-defined, and even though the book is centered on Gracie, we get to know the other three girls too. Annie, Jazz, and Storm will each have the spotlight in the next three books of the series.

A faith message is included, but is not preachy or intrusive to the story. I really appreciated the sense of family and the diversity of the characters, none of whom seemed fake or cartoonish. A section about Internet safety is included at the end of the book, important for all readers to read. This is an excellent choice for younger girls who enjoy faith-based contemporary novels.
