I
love to begin each new year with an
Ansel Adams Wall Calendar
hung to bring the great artist's visions of the natural world into my home. The cover of the new large 2007 calendar shows Yosemite winter boughs drooping under heavy loads of soft snow.
T
he high quality black and white images selected for 2007 include moody storm-misted and snow-capped peaks, stark rocks, a soft redwood forest, a Santa Clara orchard, and a dead tree floating in Yosemite's Siesta lake, the water still as glass. There's an amazing Texas sky, feathered in clouds. Aspens ornament and brighten an otherwise bare New Mexico forest. And 2008 appropriately opens on a Sierra Nevada mountain sunrise.
W
ho would not appreciate this lovely calendar on their wall? It covers thirteen months (January 2007 - January 2008) and makes a remarkable gift, one that encourages viewers to get out and explore mountain and forest themselves.
