While their personalities are at odds, they manage to transcend that obstacle and become true friends, able to gloss over each other's peculiarities to reach the core of what makes them tick. Vaughn's knack for using the right words at the right time kept the girls on track. Reenie's biggest mistake of her love 'em and leave 'em attitude created a friction that time almost didn't heal. Su's hard upbringing didn't stop her from achieving her dream as a network anchor. Audrey's strict father demanded excellence and rode his daughter's shoulder long after his demise. This is a heartwarming story that could be almost anyone's. The girls exhibit all the flaws that are inherent in each of us as well as the good traits. They manage to maintain their bonds and be there for each other when needed. They are frank and open in their opinions and yet display sensitivity when it is most needed. Girls Most Likely is an emotionally charged novel that is hard to put down once started as it tracks the women's movements over forty years.
