It's simply written with a great plot that veers off in different directions but never strays far from the course. Murder mystery writer Frank Smith heads to Baltimore from Phoenix to attend his 50th high school reunion at the Scott Academy. He leaves behind a mystery of his own - his wife disappeared four years ago and has not been seen since. At the school, an unsolved disappearance of four young students twenty-five years previously has left the parents of these boys in limbo. Can Frank solve the case - as he is asked to do at the reunion? Will the detective from Phoenix ever let up on his certainty that Frank murdered his wife? The action flows through Impulse, growing ever closer to solutions. Frank is a likable guy in his sixties and he ruminates at times with an old childhood friend about the chore of growing older and how the younger generations look on wrinklies.
