A
ngie Amalfi is back in
Red Hot Murder
, the fourteenth book in her series. If possible, Angie only gets more reckless and determined to get the bad guy, as she and the series mature.
A
ngie and her fiancé Paavo travel to the small Arizona town of Jackpot, where Paavo spent a portion of his growing-up years. A phone call from a troubled old friend prompts Paavo to take a week's vacation from his job as a San Francisco homicide detective to see if he can help. He and Angie set out to have a lovely romantic week in the Arizona desert. Talk about carrying coals to Newcastle! Paavo discovers his experience in solving murders is needed in Jackpot. Angie tries to help, setting off a series of incidents that are suspenseful, frightening, and downright funny. The escapade with the stampeding ostriches is worth the price of the book.
A
ngie is delightful as she tries to shield her love from danger, only to find herself in jeopardy. The town's residents are a story in themselves - the female sheriff built like a Mack truck; her deputy who'd rather design women's clothes than work in law enforcement; a wimpy son with a domineering mother; the woman who runs Jackpot's diner and likes to use desert animals in her
gourmet
dishes ... the list goes on, and only adds to the enjoyment of a fun book.
