iving Under God
is a different type of devotional. Each reading looks at men, women, and events that shaped America's history. In chronological order, beginning with the Pilgrims' landing in 1620 and moving onwards to people who are currently alive and making a difference, Toby Mac and Michael Tait examine history and relate it to us today.
E
ach devotion begins with a two to three page historical vignette. Next comes a passage from the Bible that relates to the events described. For example, the story of Abraham directly corresponds to the pilgrims. The final two sections of each devotion come under the heading
Living It
. The first suggests a practical application of both historical and Biblical events to the reader's life. The second provides questions for journaling, prayer, and discussion.
A
lthough written with teens in mind (and some of the questions are specifically focused toward that age group) the devotions are fascinating with appeal to all ages. This would be an ideal devotional for parents and teens to do together because the opportunities for both to learn and grow are immense. As with their first book,
Under God
, Toby Mac and Michael Tait forge fascinating new ground with a unique, life-changing message.
