Seek no further. It's all covered in Uncle John's Bathroom Reader Christmas Collection of intriguing holiday trivia and quizzes (answers at the back). It begins with 'How Scrooge Saved Christmas', his story that is, which apparently saved the holiday from extinction in 19th century England, in the midst of the Industrial Revolution. Delightful chapter titles range from Boxing Day 101 and Mistletoe Demystified to Gifts of Christmas Past and Yuletide Yuks (corny holiday jokes like 'What happens if you eat the Christmas decorations? You get tinselitus.'). Pages are charmingly trimmed with old-fashioned, black and white illustrations. There's even a holiday word search and a crossword puzzle. I especially enjoyed Christmas quotes, like Erma Bombeck's heartfelt 'There's nothing sadder in this world than to awake Christmas morning and not be a child.' Tuck this small gem of a book into a family stocking this Christmas, and then chuckle over it together.
