This engaging Spanish course includes a colorfully illustrated workbook (with flashcards and a menu guide to cut out, and removable stickers to place on objects around the house) and a set of six CDs. The idea is to listen to, and learn from, a group of fifteen language guides, who come from different regions of the Spanish speaking world and include both male and female speakers.

That learning is strengthened by answering the questions in the workbook. Workbook and CDs have the same structure and section headings. Audio is high quality, clearly articulated, and well organized, with frequent repetition for reinforcement. At the bottom of each workbook page is a list of free words (like el estudiante and diccionario), that are similar in English and Spanish.

Early lessons develop key questions words (where, what, who, why, when, and how much). Masculine and feminine are then introduced (el, un, la, una) and plurals. The student is encouraged to use the labels (not sure el gato would appreciate that!) Next comes counting and colors (and I've survived in many countries with less language knowledge than this). Further topics include money, greetings, directions, post office, traveling, dining, and shopping. Exercises make use of culturally relevant images, like flags and traffic signs.

Planning a viaje to Spain, Mexico or Argentina? Invest in Spanish in 10 Minutes a Day Audio CD and start listening and learning on the way to work or while doing chores at home. The course even leads you through packing your suitcase in Spanish and will speed you on your way, knowing plenty of new palabras.
