Finally, a romance where the heroine is fifty! Anne Johnson is just freshly divorced and very free since her children are on their own in college. With no financial worries, she can pursue her interests at will.

She has rented a beautiful apartment in Washington, D.C. and is enjoying her freedom. At least that's what she keeps telling herself. And what are her interests? Men - or at least one particularly sexy male who lives in her building. But now this interest may have to take a back seat, because a little voice has told her that there will be a murder in her apartment building within thirty days.

Josephine Carr's characters work effortlessly together. Anne's family is amazingly understanding, even her ex. And Anne's new-found friend Mary (the building's cleaning woman) is really well drawn. Best of all, Carr is able to catch the humor of each conversation and situation so well, especially at the time the mystery is resolved. My Very Own Murder is a light but delightful confection.
