Sloan Thompson moves to Pennsylvania from Texas to be closer to his family after the death of his wife. His oldest daughter is slowly withdrawing from her father and not doing well in school. Sloan hopes that being closer to his family will help her deal with her emotional problems. Brook is not only having a hard time dealing with her father, she just can't seem to get her life together. So when a popular boy from her new school gives her a second look, she is ready and willing to show him her love. The thing she doesn't bank on is becoming pregnant. She is terrified to tell her father.

Jenna Quinn lives a carefree life, but is drawn to Sloan and his children. She is willing to have an arrangement with Sloan, but will not commit to anything. That is not her style. The only problem being, her flu turns out to be pregnancy. Sloan is trying to keep his little family together and still live a full life. When he meets Jenna, he is immediately taken by her attitude and fun loving personality, and she has a great relationship with his girls. When Brook tells him she is pregnant he hits the roof, but tries to keep his cool so that he can help his daughter make the biggest decision of her life. He doesn't count on Jenna being pregnant too, and on the kinds of emotions that will play on all those involved.

Susan Gable's writing style draws you in immediately. Her characters spark to life, while making you feel for their dilemmas. The emotional roller coaster that they go through is shared by the reader. I cried or rejoiced along with them, and was content at the end. The Pregnancy Test is a superb read, charged with emotion.
