T
his novel takes off from the recent trend, in which people try to find their match on the Internet. Jess Monroe is net dating's latest victim. Just turned thirty-four, Jess is thrown a huge birthday bash, with lots of gifts. One of them is a dating site subscription - given by a vindictive person, a
friend
out of necessity rather then want.
A
fter coaching from her sister Olivia, Jess decides to give the site a try. When she signs in for the first time, there are already some members who liked her profile. The first she chooses is a man named Simon. They seem to click over dinner. They have great conversations, and their chemistry is off the chart. The only problem is, he's watching the door like a hawk. Shouldn't he be paying attention to her? Then, all of a sudden, he excuses himself to the bathroom and doesn't comes back! Another date Jess has is with an obsessive guy who's on one of those micro diets where you can eat hardly anything.
G
oing through the weirdos is not the only problem Jess faces. We find out early in the story that Olivia has developed breast cancer. Though this crushes Jess, both situations provide opportunity for growth for everyone involved. I recommend
Love @ First Site
to anyone who has tried their luck at Internet dating, or simply wondered about it. The story is emotional and keeps the reader wanting more.
