When she sold it to the Devil, aka Post-gossip columnist Lucy, she was enrolled in a 'Life Enrichment Program'. Getting new recruits into the program garners her increasing powers and spells, with which to alter herself and others. She's racing down the path of devilishness and doing splendidly too, until one day V accidentally rescues a child from drowning, a big no-no in the devil's handbook. With the loss of some of her privileges comes an increasingly overactive conscience, one which prevents her from getting into a romance with a dishy but woefully soulful guy, who's not a celebrity. In a city aptly named the Big Apple, there are many ways the Devil can lure V back. Whoever wins this eternal battle between good and evil, V is bound to be the loser ... right? The basic story idea, that the Devil exists and runs New York City, isn't unique by any means, but this is certainly a charming version on that theme. V's struggle to remain in heartless apathy, working against her own pesky little conscience, is presented here with verve and vivacity. Steeped in atmosphere, the story transports readers to NYC and its temptations. Despite a somewhat weak ending, the serpentine twists and turns of The Diva's Guide to Selling your Soul will keep readers engrossed.
