Employed by the local newspaper as an investigative reporter, she is to attend a convention in Boston. Reluctant to leave her family to fend for themselves, she agrees to go as long as she can be guaranteed to be home to celebrate Father's Day with her husband Bill. The staid but interesting convention picks up when a prominent publisher is murdered at a well-attended dinner. Lucy can't resist researching the dead man's life and family - like printer's ink, investigating is in the blood. Calling home, she hears that her family is falling apart. But what's worse, there's another murder. And her own life is jeopardized. I like cozies. They're usually fun with the kind of people who live in your own neighborhood. The only difference here is that one of them is a murderer. Father's Day Murder is one of the good cozies. And I like Lucy Stone, who does a good job balancing her reporting job with motherhood. Leslie Meier's series revolves around murders happening at different holidays throughout the year. As of this book, she's published eleven seasonal mysteries.
