The cartoon at the back of this graphic novel asks 'How can you teach kids about money?' and aptly answers 'Give them a comic book and make learning fun!'

It all starts when Tim the Turtle goes to the fairground with his friends, but discovers he doesn't have the cash to join them on the 'Eliminator' ride. When Red figures out what happened, he clues Tim in on the notion of 'financial intelligence'. There's a fascinating comic format anecdote of how the father of a friend taught Robert Kiyosaki important life lessons about how to make money work for you.

Then Tim's friend Red tells his own story - an entrepeneurial idea that leveraged his old bike into a brand new one. Red clearly explains the concepts of assets, liabilities, and cash flow. He tells Tim about the advantage that kids have over most grown ups in terms of getting rich, and speaks about short term choices to spend, versus longer term benefits of saving and investing (not forgetting donating to charity).

Tim takes the advice, has a eureka moment, and soon he's treating his friends to an 'Eliminator' ride, a big turnaround from the beginning of the story. The book closes with 'The End ... and the BEGINNING!' My teen son enjoyed Rich Dad's Escape From the Rat Race, which I recommend for its engaging format and easily digestible financial lessons.
