egan Reilly and her beau Jack Reilly (no relation) team up once again – although distance separates them – to solve a mystery. Regan is hired to find a young woman who takes out-of-touch time every so often. Her mother Lilac is anxious to find her daughter as great amounts of money are at stake.

inety-three year-old Lucretia, Lilac's aunt and the source of the money, is to marry a man many, many years younger. The groom may not be who he claims to be. The plot thickens and takes the cast to
Altered States
, a run-down winery in California's Napa Valley. The action, which is fast-paced, picks up considerably at this point. The plot is convoluted and, just as I began to get a tad confused, clarity would reign. Every clue that is dropped is explored and falls into its natural place in the story. The characters are engaging and fill their roles in the plot admirably. I especially liked Lucretia, who enjoys a particular zest for life and proves that it's what you make of it. Regan is a plausible detective, although her life seems just a bit too good.
