S
an Diego detective Lily Yu is called in to investigate a series of grisly murders that have all the markings of werewolf kills. To identify the elusive killer she must learn more about the inner workings of the secretive
lupi
. Rule Turner, high profile, charismatic prince of the Nicolai werewolf clan (and also number one suspect), can help her trace the clues she needs for an arrest. Enlisting the services of a murder suspect goes way beyond procedure, but Lily proceeds, knowing full well she's tempting not only danger, but her own fate.
A
ssociating with humans doesn't sit well with Rule Turner. But he cannot deny the blistering attraction Lily sets off from the first moment they meet. He knows Lily feels the same pull, but being human she's shrugged it off as nothing more than sexual energy. Rule knows otherwise; knows that powers much stronger than natural attraction have brought them together and for reasons that are not yet clear. Convincing Lily will be tough. But first they need to stay alive long enough to find out who's set Rule up for murder, and why.
T
his is the expanded version of an earlier novella by Wilks, published last year in the anthology
Lover Beware
. She's done a wonderful and thorough job of expanding her alternate world and the characters she introduced in '
Midnight Choices
'.
Tempting Danger
receives high marks as a well written and believable police procedural. Its urban fantasy theme and Wilks' imaginative exploration of the
lupi
clans gives the story that much more punch, not to mention plenty more plot potential.
Mortal Danger
is already in the works and continues Lily and Rule's adventures as they explore their unbreakable bond.
