A
imée Leduc, a private investigator in Paris, is approached by a holocaust survivor to help an old woman in the Marais, the Jewish quarter of Paris. Aimée finds the woman dead, a swastika carved on her forehead. A story unravels about the Nazi occupation and collaborators and the very human but desperate things people did to stay alive. Someone is determined to wipe out anyone remaining from that sad time in France's history. Why? The year is 1993. Why fifty years later?

ara Black's second mystery is tightly written, with fast-paced action that bristles off each page. The tale takes place during tense political times, with an European Union agreement looming and the race for Prime Minister in the offing. Neo-Nazi groups are trying to eradicate the Jews again and are making claims that the holocaust was simply Jewish propaganda.
Murder in the Marais
is a page-turner of the first degree, with a tourist's eye view of Paris as a distinct added bonus.
