Paris Armstrong is horrified when her husband of twenty-four years announces that he wants a divorce. Peter leaves Paris to pick up the pieces of her life as he moves on to a future with his thirty-one year old lover.

Paris is devastated. Her children are both grown up and moving on with their own lives. After a disastrous dinner with well meaning friends who try to fix her up, Paris decides to move to California to be closer to her children and avoid the pity of the mutual friends that she shared with Peter. Upon arriving in California, Paris falls into a job of being a party/wedding planner, working with a gay man named Bixby Mason. Bixby and Paris become fast friends. Eventually Bixby decides that it is time for Paris to start dating. He drives her crazy with both advice and subtle blind dates.

This novel opens on the usual Danielle Steel formula (man leaves dutiful wife devastated to be with a younger woman). However, it rapidly turns into a witty tale about re-entering the dating world. The author injects humor into an otherwise depressing situation in which a woman's life falls apart. Bixby Mason is my favorite character - he is gruff, yet caring as Paris surmounts the obstacles of dating and finds herself after years of being a housewife. I recommend Dating Game as an engaging read that will bring a smile to your face as you turn its pages.
