Chocolate Bear Burglary
, a sequel to
The Chocolate Cat Caper
, is another charming cozy mystery. Lee McKinney has moved to the resort town of Warner Pier, Michigan, to escape an ex-husband who refuses to let go. Lee works for her Aunt Nettie in a gourmet chocolate shop. Things start to go wrong when Lee's ex-step-son arrives on her doorstep with a tale of woe. A burglary, an almost hit-and-run, a murder, and an attack by snowmobile, soon follow!
T
he town of Warner Pier could be any resort town, but its residents leave a little to be desired. This is a fun book with a good plot, whose action moved along with ease. It's a little easy to pick out the culprit but I enjoyed the suspense of not being sure. But – the inevitable but – the story was interrupted a number of times by a page of info on chocolate. Relevant? Yes. Necessary to the story? No. Distracting, to say the least. Some of it smacked of the blasted infomercials on TV.
B
ut, that said,
The Chocolate Bear Burglary
was still a good book and I will look forward to Carl's next chocoholic adventure.
