allahan Garrity and her mother Edna run the
House Mouse
, a house cleaning service in Atlanta. At one point in her career, Callahan was a policewoman, then a PI. Now she feels that life is simpler as a house cleaner. Now, if only she could keep enough help to take on a big contract with a residential hotel.
A
potential PI client wants Callahan to track her estranged husband's money. Marital sleuthing is not the type of work she likes, but bills are pending. When the client is murdered, Callahan pulls out all the stops to find the culprit. I like Callahan. Her character appeals to me. She's levelheaded, honest, caring, and dearly loves her mother. She reacts well during emergencies ... although she does seem to manufacture her own emergencies, they are always in a good cause. Her cleaning crew is wonderfully outrageous. Imagine an allergy to emus having an impact on your life!

eart Trouble
is an older book (1996) but I always like Trocheck's writing, and somehow missed this one.
