After leaving Rockton, Detective Casey Duncan and her husband, Sheriff Eric Dalton, built a new off-the-grid refuge deep in the Yukon for people needing to escape their pasts. Now they have six-month-old baby Rory to care for as well as their Haven's Rock friends and neighbours. As this episode opens, they meet suspicious hikers close to their town. The next day they find a several days old corpse in the woods, so work to trace the hikers' movements in order to find out what kind of threat their refuge faces. There's a strangled hiker, a poisoned miner, an illegal prison camp, and a connection to a Haven's Rock resident, but of course Casey and Eric dig out answers. Can Casey hang up her homicide detective cap for good? Readers will find out in the final Haven's Rock adventure in 2027!
