Dustin Dubecki comes to each of her events, pretending to be looking for writing advice. His obsession with her escalates to a vicious attack. Dustin is imprisoned but gets off lightly with a five year sentence at a psychiatric institution. Arden becomes reclusive and has trouble writing. As the time of Dustin's release approaches, she moves near Riverbend, Oregon, close to her aunt and uncle and decides to share her new home with a black lab, Zorro. She meets seriously attractive ex-LAPD detective Gideon Riley, who knows his way around wood. She finds herself again, making a whole new book of her personal life. Of course, readers can see where all this is heading but it's a real pleasure to follow Nora Roberts down the detailed road she lays out, especially for the warm interactions Arden has with her family members and close friends and neighbors. When twisted sociopath Dustin does eventually track her down, out for revenge, he has no idea what he will be up against!
